After writing about the scorching weather that we experienced in May and June, the rains came...HARD. Record-high temperatures were followed by welcomed cooler weather, but the clouds upened up and didn't stop! As they say "be careful what you wish for"! From mid-July to present, all of the rain records have been broken. It has been said, "if you don't like the weather, wait a few minutes". It is true that it can change fast in Alaska.
The rains have ushered in my favorite season with a bang! Fall in Alaska is a beautiful time of the year. It comes on fast and departs with the same speed, but nonetheless, it is breathtaking.
Not only is the foliage across this vast State changing into vibrant hues, but the animals are also changing. Moose are in rut, bears are foraging for their last chance to fatten up before hibernation, and the salmon have spawned out to complete the circle of life, ensuring the bounty of the sea continues. These are beautiful sites to behold if lucky enough to witness them.
Traveling to Alaska during the Fall is one of the best times. The rush of the “tourist” season has essentially passed, leaving even more room to spread your wings in the 600,000 square miles we call home. Bear and moose outnumber the humans per square mile in Alaska!
So, if getting away from it all is something on your bucket list, we’ve got the answer. We have the perfect spot for you to call “basecamp”, our Eden on E Street property, while you explore. Check out our availability calendar and give me a shout. We'd love to host you!
